Air Southwest

Air Southwest is a British airline established in 2003 that served the air connections in Great Britain, Ireland, and the Channel Islands. Air Southwest’s airplanes were stationed in three bases – the main one in Plymouth, and two hubs in Bristol and Newquay. The airline’s fleet includes 5 turboprop aircraft Bombardier Dash 8-311. Initially, the passengers of the Air Southwest airline were able to buy flight tickets for the route Plymouth – Newquay - London Gatwick, and then for flights Plymouth - Manchester, via Bristol. During the utmost period of activity, the carrier’s planes served 14 airports in Great Britain and Ireland. 

All passengers, who purchased flight tickets from Air Southwest, were entitled to use certain amenities before, and during the flight. The airline enabled the purchase of snacks and refreshments onboard. Also, the carrier gradually extended the range of the additional services for the passengers. As a part of the additional service, Advance, the passengers obtained the possibility of, e.g., introducing changes in booking up to  2 hours before the scheduled departure free of charge, taking the checked luggage of maximum weight 30 kg, or access to the business lounge. What is more, the passengers traveling from Plymouth and Newquay were enabled to use the stepped-up check-in, in case when they only take hand luggage onboard.

In 2010, Air Southwest airline established a strategic cooperation with another British carrier – Eastern Airways. In the same year, the owner of the Eastern Airways bought up the Air Southwest, and in 2011, the airline was dissolved.
