Tarom

Airlines Tarom are Romanian, national carrier, that in 97.05 percent belongs to the Ministry of Transportation. The oldest and biggest in the country airlines were founded in 1920, but the first regular connection, on a route Bucharest-Galati, the carrier launched only five years later. Till 1989, which was the year of the fall of communistic government of Romania, airlines were operating only on planes type Ił. In 1990 they were replaced by Boeings and Airbus. In 1933 Romanian carrier launched flights to Bangkok and Montreal, but after recoding huge losses, it was forced to cancel them in 2001, whereas in another two years it started flying on other long distance routes, like to Chicago, New York and Beijing,

Currently, airlines Tarom are operating on 52 airports in 22 countries of Europe, Middle East and North Africa. Since 25th June 2010 they are part of alliance SkyTema. Main premises of Tarom is the international airport in Otopeni, Close to Bucharest.
